London's WestEnd and also Off WestEnd Musical scene looks stacked in 2025 with many great shows such as returning favourites, European premieres and also UK stage debuts that have already announced and we are sure that they'll be more to come. So here are 12 musicals opening in London in 2025 so far...
1 - London Road
London Road returns in June, the show uses real life words for those at time of the event. London Road is a verbatim musical, with book and lyrics by Alecky Blythe and music and lyrics by Adam Cork, and direction by Rufus Norris, London Road tells the story of Autumn 2006 in Ipswich, Suffolk.
London Road will play from June 6th until the 21st at the National Theatre.
2 - Stalled the Musical
Stalled is a new musical telling the story of mothers, daughters and moving on, the show will play 6 week limited run at the Kings Head Theatre, Stalled will star recently announced cast members Lauren Ward and Josie Benson, it also has a book by Liesl Wilke and Andy Marsh, plus direction by Vikki Stone.
Stalled will play its 6 week limited run from the 13th February and will play until 23rd of March.
3 - If/Then
After its very much long awaited UK debut, If/Then finally arrives here in the UK, the show will make its one night only debut at the Savoy Theatre and will star Kerry Ellis, David Hunter and Preeya Kalidas, the show is written by Brain Yorkey and has music by Tom Kitt.
If/Then will play a one night only concert performance at the Savoy Theatre on Monday the 10th of February.
4 - Evita
Andrew Lloyd Webber will have 3 shows playing in London this Summer with Phantom of The Opera, Starlight Express and now Evita returning for a limited 12 week Summer run at The London Palladium, Directed by Jamie Lloyd and with Lyrics by Tim Rice the shows cast is yet to be announced. This show is one to watch.

5 - Clueless - A new Musical
Another movie turned musical, Clueless will play London’s Trafalgar Theatre from February, starring Emma Flynn who makes her WestEnd debut and Keelan McAuley, Clueless has music by KT Tunstall, Lyrics by Glenn Slater, Choreography by Kelly Devine and direction by Rachel Kavanaugh.
Clueless A new Musical plays from 15th of February.
6 - The Great Gatsby
F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby makes its London Debut, written by Kait Kerrigan, music and lyrics by Jason Howland and Nathan Tysen and Directed by Marc Bruni, the Broadway hit currently stars Jeremy Jordan and Eva Noblezada and the UK cast is yet to be announced...
The Great Gatsby plays at the London Coliseum from April 11th and will play through to 7th of September.
7 - Sing Street
Sing Street a musical about a school band in 1982 Dublin, previously having a workshop performances and an aimed Broadway opening before the pandemic hit back in 2019 and then returned to the stage in a second production in 2022. Sing Street which has the same name of the 2016 film, this new musical has Book by Enda Walsh, Music & Lyrics by Gary Clark and John Carney, Direction by Rebecca Taichman Choreography by Sonya Tayeh.
Sing Street makes its UK premiere at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre from the 8th of July and will play until 23rd of August.
8 - Just For One Day - The Live Aid Musical
The event that brought the world together, Just For One Day - The Live Aid Musical returns to London after a The Old Vic earlier this year the show opens at the Shaftesbury Theatre, written by John O' Farrell, directed by Luke Sheppard and Choreography by Ebony Molina.
The Show plays at the Shaftesbury Theatre from the 15th of May and will play until 10th January 2026
9 - Cry-Baby - The Musical
Based on John Waters film, Cry-Baby will makes it UK premiere in the Arcola Theatre, the cult stage adaptation has a book Mark O’Donnell & Thomas Meehan, with music and lyrics by Javerbaum & Adam Schlesinger plus choreography by Chris Whitaker and direction by Mehmet Ergen.
Cry-Baby will make its UK premiere from 3rd of March and will play until 12th of April!
10 - Disney's Hercules
Disney's Hercules is coming to London in 2025, with Luke Brady starring as the title role, the show has music by Alan Menken, Lyrics By David Zippel a book by Robert Horn and Kwame Kwei-Armah plus direction and choreography by Casey Nicholaw and co-choreography by Tanisha Scott, Hercules has played productions off-Broadway in 2019, Millburn in 2023 and Hamburg this year.
This is one for all Disney fans.
Disney's Hercules plays at the Royal Drury Lane Theatre from the 6th of June.
11 - Here We Are
One of theatres great composers the late Stephen Sondheim will have his last ever show its UK premiere at National Theatre in 2025, the show is inspired by films from Luis Buñuel with it all also having a great cast including Tracie Bennet, Chumisa Dornford-May and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. The show had and an Off-Broadway world premiere back in September 2023, Here We Are has a book written by David Ives and Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.
Here We Are plays at the National Theatre's Lyttelton Theatre from the 23rd of April and will play until 28th of June.
12 - Scissorhandz - A Musical Reinvented
Making its European Premiere this critically-acclaimed musical is a new take on Tim Burton's story, Scissorhandz has a mix of songs from the 90s and 00s, Directed by Bradley Bredeweg and Choreography by Alexzandra Sarmiento.
Scissorhandz A Musical Reinvented will play at the Southwark Playhouse - Elephant from the 23rd of January until 29th of March.
