7 SHOWS OPENING IN JANUARY 2023

As we are edging closer to the end of 2022 and nearing the start of a new year here are 7 shows that are opening in the month of January around the UK, these shows are ones not to be missed and will be a great start to the new year.


Show 1 - DIRTY DANCING


Dirty Dancing the musical which is an adaptation of the classic movie that was released in 1987 which was directed by Emile Ardolino and starred Patrick Swayze as Johnny Castle . It will return to London's WestEnd from 21st of January and will play at the Dominion theatre till April 29th

The show will also go on tour after playing in London starting in May at the Manchester Palace theatre.

 

Show 2 - LEMONS, LEMONS, LEMONS, LEMONS, LEMONS


 

Lemons, Lemons, Lemons, Lemons, Lemons is a Love story based around what we say. How we do love? What happens when nothing happens? It is a funny rom-com directed by Josie Rourke and written by Sam Steiner starring Jenna Coleman and Aidan Turner. The show will play for a limited 9 weeks from the 18th of January at the Harold Pinter Theatre.

Show 3 - NOISES OFF


Noises Off follows a theatre company and their antics on and offstage playing at the Phoenix theatre in London to celebrate the shows 40th anniversary from the 19th of January until 11th of March and stars Felicity Kendal, Jonathan Coy, Matthew Kelly and Tracy-Ann Oberman with direction by Lindsay Posner.

Show 4 - MY SON'S A QUEER (BUT WHAT CAN YOU DO?)


My Son's a Queer (But what can you do?) is written and performed by Rob Madge and is an autobiography of their life and their plan to recreate a Disney parade in their childhood living room. With direction by Luke Sheppard, Rob's show returns to the WestEnd once again after a two week run the the Garrick theatre in London but this time playing at the Ambassadors theatre from the 25th of January until 18th of March.

SHOW 5 - STEEL MAGNOLIAS


Steel Magnolias will open its UK and Ireland tour on January 19th in Bromley at the Churchill theatre the shows stars will play selected dates across the venues FIND OUT WHO IS IN THE CAST & WHERE THEY ARE PLAYING Written by Robert Harling the film that is beloved which starred Dolly Parton and Julia Roberts comes to life on stage.

SHOW 6 - ALLEGIANCE


ALLEGIANCE the musical is inspired by a true story which follows the aftermath of the attack on Pearl Harbour, the show stars actor GEORGE TAKEI who is making his LONDON STAGE DEBUT and also Telly Leung in this UK premiere of the show.

SHOW 7 - SYLVIA


Returning to the show's original venue SYLVIA the musical will play at the Old Vic theatre with Beverley Knight as Sylvia Pankhurst from January 27th, Sylvia has a book by Katie Prince (also DIRECTOR and LYRICS) and Priya Parmar, Music from Josh Cohen and DJ Walde.
