I had the privilege of attending the live sitzprobe for Bat Out of Hell. Oh my life! It was a glimpse into who is headlining with new and returning cast. What incredible vocals complimenting the iconic music delivered by a top band, all setting the stage for the upcoming unforgettable UK tour.
Held under the direction of Jay Scheib, the rehearsal captured the raw energy and emotion behind Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf’s iconic rock anthems.
Honestly the synergy between the cast and the eight-piece band, led by Musical Director Iestyn Griffiths was outstanding. It was like watching the musical in the best seats of the theatre. Standout performances for me included Joshua Dever, Glenn Adamson and Sharon Sexton. Supporting cast members delivered their parts with fiery passion and precision.
With so much energy and excitement. It was hard to sit still in my seat. I wanted to jump up and join in. The band’s electrifying renditions of Bat Out of Hell classics were seamless.
Even though I am not a big Meat Loaf fan, I literally cannot wait to see this on stage when the highly anticipated tour kicks off in January 2025 bringing this rock opera back to life.
The sneak peek didn’t just showcase talent; it also offered a behind-the-scenes glimpse of what makes Bat Out of Hell legendary—its depth, emotion, and unapologetic flair. If the sitzprobe was any indication, with inspiration from the recent down under and New Zealand areas productions, this production is revving up to be an unforgettable ride.
