The humour, while traditional, would be thoroughly entertaining for fans of farce. Cooney's book is full of improbable coincidences and humorous misunderstandings, and is a masterclass in the genre. It's a delightful nod to the golden age of British comedy, Cooney's exaggerated characters such as the bumbling colleague, the flirtatious nurse, and the gruff matron, who playfully interact in chaotic scenarios. These well-worn tropes are executed by the cast with such skill that this audience found them as funny as ever.

The simple set design, designed by Alex Marker, adds to the charm, capturing the hospital setting perfectly and providing ample opportunities for physical comedy. The intimate venue at The Mill at Sonning enhances the experience, drawing the audience into the heart of the action, making the humour feel immediate and personal.

It Runs In The Family is a delightful play, that's full of energy, humour, and nostalgia for those who enjoy classic farce. The performances are stellar, the direction sharp, and the laughs are plentiful. If you're a fan of this type of high-energy, no-holds-barred comedy, this production will undoubtedly deliver an enjoyable and memorable evening for all who love the golden age of British comedy.
