Man in the Mirror - A Tribute to Michael Jackson played at Golders Green Hippodrome ahead of going out on tour across the UK, and what a thrilling, high-energy tribute to Michael Jackson it was.
The show stars CJ, one of the world's top Michael Jackson tribute artists, who brought incredible stage presence and nailed many of MJ’s iconic moves. CJ's dedication to capturing Michael’s essence was clear, and although the vocals were decent, it was CJ's dancing and overall performance that truly stood out.
The production went through Jackson’s greatest hits, including Billie Jean, Thriller, Smooth Criminal, and of course Man in the Mirror, and my personal favourite was the Jackson 5 set. The choreography by Holly Harrison was excellent, with dancers Becky Holden, Harriet Johnstone, and Laura Summers adding a vibrant energy to the stage. Their precision and enthusiasm helped elevate the spectacle, making every routine feel polished and powerful. The lighting, costumes, and staging created a concert-like experience that made it easy to get swept up in the nostalgia.

The live band adds to the immersive experience, with Nic Southwood as Musical Director and Bassist, Doug Jenkinson on drums, Lewis Wheeler on guitar, and Chris Davies on keyboard. Their performance was tight and energetic, bringing Jackson’s legendary music to life in a way that kept the crowd engaged from start to finish.
For me one drawback was the volume—it was incredibly loud at times, which may have been a bit much for some audience members who also didn't have much room to dance in their seats, which wasn't great for a concert style show.
Despite these minor flaws, the entertainment value was undeniable. The audience were encouraged to clap and sing along. If you’re a fan of Michael Jackson’s music and want to experience a fun, immersive tribute, Man in the Mirror is definitely worth seeing!
